Facilities and Equipment

Shasta’s modern facility – situated on 10 acres in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania – was engineered and equipped to provide the most complete range of conversion processing services with 54,000 square feet under one roof.

We’re proud of our facility, staffed with well-trained, experienced personnel and a management group with over 200 years’ combined experience. Our core mission is to exceed customers’ expectations in price, quality and delivery.

Grinding Department

Shasta’s state-of-the-art grinding department can handle most any size and weight. Our grinding line is designed to handle most any customer requirement.

• 300-foot main grinding line equipped with five 200 HP Mid-West surface track grinding machines.
• 90° and 45° grinding head angles provide flexibility to process most any alloy to specific surface finish requirements at high productivity rates.
• Semi-automatic and manual indexing provide a uniform and consistent grinding pattern across the piece. Indexes from 1/8-inch to 1-1/4-inch allow rough, dress or polish finishes.
• Head pressure and motor load are variable and can be set to customer’s specific requirements to ensure minimal yield loss.
• Flexible, In-line grinding pits allow processing of slab edges and round ends.
• Mid-West pipe and round grinder for 4-inch to 30-inch OD pipe including geo-thermal pipe applications at various lengths. Adjustable handling rolls.

Material Handling

As a one-stop conversion shop, our plant is equipped to handle most any size product.

• One 30-Ton overhead crane.
• Two, 15-Ton remote-controlled overhead cranes.
• Forklifts (6), capable of handling pieces of up to 30,000 pounds.
• Individual piece handling equipment includes hydraulic tables, round rotators and custom stands designed to handle any size/shape material.

Finishing Department

Shasta’s Finishing Department is equipped to handle all your intermediate conversion processing requirements. Whether it is cutting, straightening, turning or milling operations, we have the equipment and experienced machinists to handle the job. Flexible scheduling and our commitment to “just in time” deliveries have benefited customers by handling rush jobs that others can’t handle.

Peelers and Turners

• No. 10 Medart Bar Turner – 4-inch to 10-inch dia. x 30' length.
• No. 6 Bar Peeler –2” to 6-1/4” dia. x 30' length.
• No. 3 Medart ‘B’ Bar Peeler – 1-1/2-inch to 3-inch dia. X 30' length.
• No. 3 Bar Peeler – ½” to 2-3/4” dia. x 72” to 30' length.
• Hetran Rod and Wire Shaver – ¼” to ¾” dia.; Min/max removal per pass: 0.010” – 0.040”
• Stavely Lathe - 4" - 28" dia. x 17' length.

Straighteners and Presses

• Version 500 Ton Hydraulic Gag Press – 4” to 12” squares and rounds up to 40’ length.
• Greenland H-125-2RS Hydraulic Straightening Press – 1” to 6” rectangle, square and round bar. Designed for carbon, alloy, titanium alloy and stainless steel.
• No. 2 Medart Round Bar Straightener – ¾” to 3” dia. x 20' length..
• MEECO Round Bar Straightener – ½” to 1” dia. x 20’ length.
• Blaw-Knox Round Bar Straightener – 1/8” to ½” dia. x 20’ length.

Centerless Grinders

• No. 2 Cincinnati Centerless Grinders (2) – 1/8” to 2” dia. x 20’ length.
• No. 3 Cincinnati Centerless Grinder – ½” to 4” dia. x 20’ length.

Lathes and Polishers

• Stavely Engine Lathe – 4” to 28” dia. x 24” to 17' length.
• 20” Dual Belt Polisher – 8” to 20” dia. x 48” to 24' length.
• 7” Dual Belt Polisher – 1” to 7-1/2” dia. x 28” to 40' length; 2,300 lb. weight limit.
• G&P Belt Polisher – 3/8” to 1-1/2” dia. x 32’ length.

Saws

• Friggi Band Saw – variable up to 24” thick x 80” wide (rounds, octagons, slabs; all grades)
• Kasto Band Saw (2) – variable up to 20” x 20” x variable length (flats and rounds).
• 12" DoAll Band Saw – ¼” to 12” x 20’ length (all grades).
• DoAll Oscillating Abrasive Saw – ¼” to 8”
• KMT Saw – 1/8” to 1-3/4” dia. x 20’ length (all grades).

Milling

• Cincinnati - 16" x 16" x 12.'

Heat Treating

• Certified, 1450° annealing furnace; zone heating and temperature control with radiant type open flame burners; microprocessor-based monitors and charting. Hearth dimensions: 46” (w) x 18” (h) x 18’ (l).
