Geothermal Energy

Steam Rising from stacks using geothermal energy

Today’s emphasis on global climate change and the growing discussion on alternative energy options have brought greater attention to the economics of Geothermal Energy development.  Deep-drilling technologies that harness the heat from within the earth are providing a new source of abundant energy.

Titanium alloys have long exhibited remarkable corrosion resistance in the Chemical Process Industry (CPI). In many critical applications where high reliability and near-zero corrosion resistance is required, titanium alloys have outperformed, on a comparative- cost basis, stainless steels. Many titanium components have over 25 years of service history in CPI applications.

As the geothermal industry expands, titanium has become the material of choice for well casings, tubular and plate heat exchangers, well head components and general piping applications. Titanium components have excelled in their ability to withstand the corrosive properties of high-temperature, super-saturated brines.

Shasta’s versatile grinding line is capable of processing many of the titanium tubular and plate products used in Geothermal Energy applications.  To learn more about our capabilities in processing products for the Geothermal or CPI industries, telephone us at 724-378-8280, or complete the Information Request form on this site.
